Number of benefits hybrid cars enjoy in India is the reason why Toyota thought of launching Lexus cars here.

Lexus, Toyota-owned luxury vehicle company, is finally coming to India next year, claims a latest report. The original plan was to introduce the Lexus brand in 2013, but the company scrapped that due to increase in custom duties on imported cars. Seeing the growth of luxury vehicles in India, the company has now finally decided to launch it here.

Since Lexus cars will be brought to India as imports, its prices will be really high. The report further says that the number of benefits hybrid cars enjoy in India is the reason why Toyota thought of launching Lexus cars here. The customer duties on imported hybrid cars is already lower than conventional fuel-run vehicles. Additionally, over 4-metre hybrid cars get benefits up to Rs 1.39 lakh. Then some state governments like Delhi offer additional benefits and concessions on hybrid & electric cars.

Though there is no official confirmation about the Lexus models the company will bring to India, the report says that the first could be full-size LX SUV. Other hybrid vehicles that Lexus sells globally are – CT, NX, RX, ES, GS and LS. The Lexus CT hybrid, being the entry-level model, could be among the next ones to enter our market.
