Leaked Toyota Tacoma Photo Previews Design Of New Fortuner

We reported earlier that the new-gen Toyota Fortuner is likely to share the styling cues from the new Tacoma pick-up truck, which is scheduled to make its global debut in 2023. The patent images of the new Toyota Tacoma were leaked on the Internet. Ahead of the official debut, the clearest front picture of the new Toyota Fortuner has been leaked on the web world.

The all-new Tacoma will be based on an all-new platform and will feature new hybrid powertrains and more features. The new Toyota Fortuner is most likely to share underpinnings and the styling cues from the pick-up truck. This new picture reveals that the pick-up will share the styling cues from new age Toyota SUVs including the Land Cruiser 300, the Sequoia and the Tundra Pickup.

Toyota Tacoma Design Patent

If reports are to be believed, the new Toyota Tacoma will be offered in multiple trims including the TRD Pro. The company will also add a new Trailhunter trim as a factory-built off-roader in the near future. The image shows an aggressive front bumper design for improved off-road credentials, wider fender flares, a flat bonnet with strong curves & creases, a blacked-out roof with white body work, prominent cladding around flared wheel arches and a skid plate.

The Toyota Tacoma pick-up looks like a scaled down version of the Toyota Tundra full-size pick-up. It is expected that the next-gen Hilux could also follow the same design philosophy. The new model is based on Toyota’s TNGA-F architecture that underpins the larger Tundra and the Land Cruiser J300. This platform supports a wheelbase length of 2,850-4,180mm.

New Toyota Fortuner 2024

The Tacoma is rumoured to be powered by Tundra’s I-Force Max hybrid powertrain that produces 437bhp and 790Nm. It could also get a new 2.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 265bhp. The pickup could also get a 2.4L 4-cylinder hybrid turbo petrol engine, which powers few global Lexus and Toyota models.

The same 2.4L turbo petrol engine could also power the next-gen Fortuner in select markets. The new model will also come with a new diesel engine with a mild hybrid system. It will get the 1GD-FTV 2.8L diesel engine with an integrated starter generator. Reportedly to be called the GD Hybrid, the new diesel powertrain is likely to offer higher fuel efficiency and added torque on demand.
