KTM Duke 790 High Performance Bike Launched In India
KTM Duke 790 has finally been launched in India at Rs 8.69 lakh. Only 100 units of this middle weight motorcycle will be imported as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) for 2019. Globally touted as ‘Scalpel’, the Duke 790 is the brand’s first high performance bike in the country. It’s claimed to be “an agile, high precision street weapon”. For power, the KTM Duke 790 uses a new LC8 799cc, liquid cooled, parallel twin engine paired to a 6-speed gearbox. This BS4-compliant powertrain has two balancing shafts for minimal vibrations. It can deliver a peak power of 105PS (103bhp) at 9,500rpm and 86Nm of torque at 8,000rpm.
The superbike offers four riding modes – Rain, Street, Sport and Track (fully customised). The throttle input, power deliver and traction control vary with modes. While its chrome Molybdenum chassis provides extra stiffness, the Trellis frame with an Aluminium rear sub-frame is responsible for its lightweight construction. The KTM Duke 790 offers an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 612bhp per tonne. With compact dimensions, it carries a kerb weight of just 189kg. It gets power assisted slipper clutch and motor slip regulations as standard fitments. The traction control and wheelie control with cornering ABS (anti-lock braking system) ensure a safe ride.

Its suspension setup includes WP sourced USD fork in the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are performed by 300mm dual disc at the front and 240mm single disc brake with calipers at the rear.
