World Car of The Year 2020
Kia’s flagship model – the Telluride SUV and the Soul EV won the ‘World Car of the Year’ and the ‘World Urban Car’ respectively at the 2020 World Car Awards. The Kia Telluride was rewarded by the judging panel for its distinctive design and impressive practicality. The World Car of the Year – the Kia Telluride has been one of the most awarded models since its introduction in 2019.
Sharing Platform with Hyundai Palisade
The Kia Telluride shares its platform with the equally big Hyundai Palisade SUV, which is currently on sale in several International markets. For people not in the know, Hyundai is evaluating the Palisade SUV as a flagship model for the Indian market. Hyundai is readying the RHD versions of the Palisade, while Kia has no immediate plans of developing the RHD Telluride.
Infotainment System
The Kia Telluride SUV is equipped with a huge 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which we have already seen on the Seltos SUV. However, the Telluride’s infotainment system offers better touch interface and different colour patterns. It has both touch screen controls and physical controls for features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the navigation system. It also offer multi-device Bluetooth connectivity, and UVO link remote connectivity.
Engine and Transmission
The new Kia Telluride is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 GDI petrol engine that is capable of producing 292bhp of power and 355Nm of torque. It is paired to an electronically controlled eight-speed automatic gearbox. Front-wheel-drive layout comes as standard, while all-wheel-drive system is available as optional. The SUV also offer six driving modes – Smart, Eco, Sport, Comfort, Snow, AWD lock.
It’s Big
In terms of proportions, the Kia Telluride SUV is 5,000mm in length, 2,010mm in width and 1,800mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,081mm. The SUV has a ground clearance of 203mm, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. The Kia Telluride SUV has towing capacity of 2,268kg.
8-seater
The Telluride SUV can seat up to 8 adults. The SUV is available in both 7 and 8-seat options. While the 7-seater model gets captain seats for the second, the 8-seater model gets bench-type seats for the second and third row. Thanks to its huge dimensions and long wheelbase, the third row seats can accommodate 3 adults.
High On Safety
Even the base variant of the Kia Telluride is equipped with a long-list of safety and security features. It gets forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and a drowsy driver warning system. Adding to it, the SUV gets automatic emergency braking and rear cross-traffic alert.
