Kia Sub-Compact SUV To Challenge Vitara Brezza & Nexon In India
The Kia sub-4-metre SUV will share its platform, components and features with Hyundai’s upcoming QXi SUV.
Kia Motors confirmed that its first product for India will be based on the SP concept that previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo. The production-ready Kia SP concept will be positioned against Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. While the carmaker hasn’t revealed details about its second product, it’s reported to be a sub-4-metre SUV.
The new Kia compact SUV will take on the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. The Korean carmaker’s sub-4-metre SUV will share its platform, components and features with Hyundai’s upcoming QXi/Carlino concept based compact SUV. The latter one is scheduled to launch by March 2019.

Similar to the Hyundai QXi, the new Kia subcompact SUV might feature a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine that will deliver power close to 115bhp. While the upcoming Kia cars will share their engines and suspension mechanism with Hyundai cars, they will be tuned for delivering sportier driving experience. The list of features is likely to be carried over with no changes. It might get a touchscreen infotainment system, interchangeable audio and video system, navigation, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, multi-functional steering wheel and more. Read More – Upcoming Kia Cars In India
In terms of design and styling, the new Kia subcompact SUV will be completely different with a new body shell. It is likely to feature typical ‘Kia’ elements including front tiger grille, sleek creases, pronounced wheel arches, etc.
