Kia SP SUV To Get A More Powerful & Sportier Variant – Report
The more powerful, sportier version of the Kia SP SUV is reported to launch in 2020.
Kia SP concept based SUV will be the first product from the Korean carmaker in the Indian market. The production version of the vehicle is slated to go on sale in August, 2019. According to Autocar, Kia Motors is also working on a more powerful, sportier version of the Kia SP SUV that might see a release sometime in 2020.
Featuring a body kit, the Kia SP sportier version will look slightly different from the regular model. Its interior will also feature a few sportier bits. While the production version of the Kia SP concept is reported to get BS4 1.5L petrol and diesel engines, the sportier model will come with a more powerful turbocharged powertrain. For improving its performance, the carmaker will tune its suspension setup as well. The 1.4L turbocharged petrol powertrain might also be used in the future Kia cars. The Kia Ceed hatchback, which is under consideration for the Indian market, might get the same powerful engine.
In India, the Kia SP concept based SUV will be stacked up against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the upcoming Nissan Kicks. As far as pricing is concerned, the SUV is estimated to come at a starting price of Rs 10 lakh and its top-spec model might cost around Rs `16 lakh (ex-showroom).
