Renault HBC
French automaker, Renault is readying an all-new compact SUV, codenamed HBC for the Indian market. This compact SUV will make debut at the 2020 Auto Expo, while launch is expected in mid-2020. The small SUV will be based on the Triber’s platform. It will share some of the features and interior components with the Triber. The HBC is likely to be the most affordable SUV in its category. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. The SUV will take on the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and others.
Kia Sonet
Buoyed by excellent response for Seltos, Kia Motors is now readying its second SUV for the Indian market. Codenamed QYI, the small SUV is scheduled to make global debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. Rumoured to be called the Kia Sonet, the small SUV will be based on the Hyundai Venue’s platform. Not just platform, it will also source the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and 1.2-litre petrol engines from the Korean cousin. The SUV is also likely to receive the BSVI compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift
Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch the long-awaited Vitara Brezza facelift at the 2020 Auto Expo. The SUV will receive significant design changes, upgraded cabin and added features. The biggest change will be made under the bonnet. Maruti Suzuki will discontinue the diesel version of the SUV. For the first time, the SUV will be offered with a petrol engine option. It will receive the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
Tata Nexon Facelift
Homegrown passenger vehicle maker, Tata Motors will unveil the Nexon facelift at the 2020 Auto Expo. The updated model will share the design changes with the Nexon EV. It will receive cosmetic design changes and upgraded cabin along with new features like sunroof and cruise control. The SUV will receive the BSVI compliant 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.
Tata Hornbill
Tata Motors will also unveil the production version of the H2X micro SUV concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. Internally called the Tata Hornbill, the small SUV will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Renault Kwid and the Mahindra KUV100. The new model will be the brand’s second product to be based on the ALFA modular platform. It will be powered by a BSVI compliant 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine.
