Kia Sonet Rendered Based On Spy Shots Looks Slightly Different

Kia Sonet will be the next big launch from the South Korean carmaker in the country. The company showcased the model in its concept form at this year’s Auto Expo. The new subcompact SUV has been confirmed to arrive in August – October period. Ahead of its official launch, a digital rendering previews the production-ready version of the Sonet.

Pained in dual-tone (Red and Black) shade, the rendered model looks quite similar to the concept. Though, you can notice minor design changes. While the concept has red highlight in between in the front grille and lower portion of the radiator grille, the production model misses out on it. While the projector fog lamps have been integrated on the bumper, the large chrome-finished alloys have been replaced smaller diamond cut alloy wheels.

The production model carries the black ‘Tiger nose’ grille with a mesh pattern as we have seen in the concept. Design bits such as split headlamps with integrated LED DRLs merging into the grille, large air vents, matte-silver fog lamp assembly, raised bonnet with muscular creases, roof rails, contrast coloured wing mirrors and pronounces wheel arches have also been carried over from the showcased model. Similar to the concept, the production-ready Kia Sonet might feature sweptback taillamps connected via a LED light car, a backward sloping C-pillar merging with a sharply raked rear windshield.

Interior of the Kia Sonet is claimed to be packed with lots of segment-first features. Though, the official details are yet to be announced. The spy pictures reveal that the Sonet will feature the segment’s largest 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. For entertainment purpose, there will be Bose sound system.

Similar to the Seltos, the new subcompact SUV from Kia will come with UVO Connect connected car features. The list will also include automatic climate control, a 3-spoke flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, wireless phone charger, keyless entry with push button start, cruise control and many more.

Kia Sonet might be offered with three engine options – a 1.2L petrol, a 1.0L GDi turbo-petrol and a 1.5L diesel. Transmission duties will be performed by a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT automatic and a new iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) unit. The Sonet will be the second car in its segment to feature clutchless manual gearbox (iMT). Just so you know, Hyundai recently announced that it will introduce the iMT gearbox on its Venue model lineup. This will make it India’s first car to offer clutchless manual gearbox.
