Kia Sonet New Teaser Reveals Aggressive Front; Debut On 7th August

Kia Motors India has released yet another teaser of its upcoming subcompact SUV – Sonet. The model is all set to make its world debut on 7th August, 2020. The latest teaser previews the aggressive front styling that resembles to the concept that was unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo. The final model will feature Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, silver skid plate and sporty bumper along with LED headlamps and LED DRLs.

The side profile will be adorned by blacked-out pillars, black plastic cladding, a sloping roofline and bold shoulder creases. At the back, the production-ready Sonet is likely to feature wrap-around LED taillamps, raked windscreen, roof integrated spoiler with brake lights. The overall length, width and height of the new Kia compact SUV will be around 3995mm, 1770mm and 1605mm respectively. It will have a 2500mm long wheelbase.

Upcoming Cars Under 10 Lakhs

The carmaker has already confirmed that the Kia Sonet will be loaded with several segment-first features. While the official feature list is yet to be revealed, it’s likely to get a 10.25 touchscreen infotainment system, a Bose sound system and Kia’s UVO in-car connectivity suite. It might also come with automatic climate control, an electric sunroof, wireless charging, keyless entry, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist and more many goodies. Kia Sonet will be made available with multiple engine-gearbox combinations. Buyers will have three engines to choose from – a 82bhp, 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol, 118bhp, 1.0L turbocharged petrol and 99bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be offered with the 1.2L petrol engine.

While the 1.0L turbo petrol and turbo diesel models can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission, a 7-speed DCT and an iMT (intelligent manual transmission) will exclusively be offered with the 1.0L turbo petrol motor. The diesel variants will also get an optional 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit.
