Kia Sonet Dealer-Level Bookings Open At Rs 25,000 – Report

The production version of the Kia Sonet compact SUV will finally make global debut on August 7, 2020. Previous reports claim that the official bookings for the SUV will commence on the same day; however, Kia dealers have unofficially started accepting pre-booking at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The new Kia Sonet is most likely to be launched in the first half of September 2020 with test drive cars to arrive dealerships in mid-August.

The report further claims that the Kia Sonet will be offered in two trim levels – GT Line and the Tech Line. The GT Line trim will be offered in 3 variants – GTK, GTX and the GTX+, while the HT Line will come in 4 variants – HTE, HTK, HTX and HTX+.

Kia Sonet Front

The GT Line trim will be powered by a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Hyundai Venue. This engine is capable of producing 118bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. Transmission options will include an iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) and DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission). The Kia Sonet GT Line will receive contrasting red-accents on the exterior and all-black interior.

The GT Line trim is rumoured to be equipped with high-end features like LED headlamps, 6 airbags, segment-largest 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO Connect (Connected Car Technology), electric sunroof and wireless charging. This model will ride on newly developed 16-inch alloy wheels.

Kia Sonet Features

The Kia Sonet Tech Line will come with two engine options – a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. While the former is good for 82bhp and 113Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 99bhp and 225Nm of torque. This trim comes with dual-tone (black and beige) interior.

The Sonet shares the platform and engine specifications with the Hyundai Venue compact SUV. The company has already released the interior and exterior design sketches. It will take on the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue.
