Kia Sonet Compact SUV Unveiled At Auto Expo 2020

Kia Sonet, the much-awaited subcompact SUV from the Korean carmaker, has finally made its global debut at the Auto Expo 2020. The SUV will see a release in the second half of this year (possibly during the festive season). Kia Sonet Compact SUV Specs

The new compact SUV from Kia will share its platform and engines with the Hyundai Venue. With compact dimensions and bold stance, the Sonet looks sporty. You can notice the brand’s signature Tiger Nose grille with honeycomb inserts. It also gets muscular bumper with wide air dam, single headlamp units (instead of the split headlamps), LED DRLs and fog lamps with matte silver finish at the front end.

The black cladding all around the body, diamond cut alloys, squared-off wheel arches, sloping roof merging with the rear glass and rising window line enhance its side profile. At the back, the Kia Sonet features horizontally placed taillamps connected by an LED strip, a roof integrated spoiler, bumper with large black inserts and matt silver bits and wider rear glasshouse.

Most of its interior features will be carried over from the Seltos. The new Kia compact SUV will offer a free standing touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. Similar to the Seltos, the Kia Sonet will offer UVO connected car technology. It will also be equipped with a multi-functional steering wheel, automatic AC unit, a digital instrument console, wireless phone charger, a sunroof, keyless entry with push button start and more.

As mentioned above, the Kia Sonet will borrow its powertains from the Hyundai Venue. It will come with a 1.2L petrol and a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engines pushing out power worth 82PS with 114Nm and 120PS with 172Nm respectively. The diesel version of the compact SUV is likely to get detuned version of the Seltos’ 1.5L CRDI engine.
