We informed you earlier that Kia Motors is readying an all-new compact SUV, which will be launched in our market in 2020. Codenamed QYi, the new sub-4 meter SUV is rumoured to be called the Kia Sonet. The compact SUV will make global debut at the 2020 Auto Expo, but in a concept form. It will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV300.
The Kia Sonet sub-4 meter SUV is expected to be based on the Hyundai Venue’s platform. Not just platform, the small SUV is also likely to share its powertrains with the Korean cousin. If reports are to be believed, the compact SUV could be offered with 4 engine options – a 83PS, 1.2L MPI naturally aspirated petrol, a 120PS, 1.0L T-GDI turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol, a 123PS, 1.6L MPI naturally aspirated petrol and a 90PS, 1.4L CRDi turbo diesel. Some of the design highlights will include signature Tiger Nose grille with integrated ice-cube styled fog lamps, LED daytime running lamps, raked rear windshield and LED tail-lamps. The SUV will ride on 16-inch alloy wheels.
