Kia Seltos Will Be Longer & Wider Than Hyundai Creta

Kia Seltos, the premium compact SUV from the Korean carmaker, recently made its first appearance at a media event in Delhi. Scheduled to launch in late August, the SUV offers several segment-first features along with three engine and four transmission options. In terms of dimensions, the Seltos will be a step ahead of its arch rival – Hyundai Creta.

The overall length, width and height of the Kia Seltos stand at 4315mm, 1800mm and 1620mm respectively, thus making it 45mm longer and 20mm wider than the Creta. The latter one is 4270mm long and 1780mm wide. In fact, Kia’s SUV sits on a wheelbase of 2610mm, which is 20mm longer than the Creta. Compared to the Kia Seltos, however, the Hyundai Creta is taller and has high ground clearance. While the lower trims of the Seltos will be assembled with 16-inch wheels with 205/65 section tyres, the range-topping trims will come with 17-inch alloy wheels and 215/60 section tyres.

Talking about the engines, the Kia Seltos will come with three powertrains – a 1.5L Smartstream petrol, a 1.5L CRDi diesel and a 1.4L T-GDI turbo petrol. While the oil burner produces a peak power of 115bhp with 250Nm of torque, the 1.5L and 1.4L gasoline motors deliver 140bhp with 242Nm and 115bhp with 144Nm respectively. A 6-speed manual transmission will be standard across the SUV lineup. While the 1.5L diesel unit will be offered with a 6-speed torque convertor, the 1.4 T-GDI will get a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 1.5L petrol motor will be made available with a CVT automatic gearbox.
