Kia Seltos SUV Makes World Debut; India Launch In H2 2019

Kia Seltos will rival Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur.

Kia Motors first vehicle for the Indian market – Kia Seltos premium SUV – has finally made its debut at an event in Delhi. Based on the Kia SP2i concept, the Seltos will lock horns against multiple products right from Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur to Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and the upcoming MG Hector. Official launch of this premium 5-seater SUV will happen in second half of 2019. The Seltos will be made available with two distinct design lines – Tech Line and GT Line.

Engine options for the new Kia Seltos include a 1.4L T-GDI turbocharged petrol, a naturally-aspirated petrol unit and a diesel motor. Both powertrains are BS6-compliant. The Seltos is first in its segment to offer a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The SUV also comes with a CVT and a 6-speed torque converter gearbox options. Interior of the Kia Seltos is packed with several goodies including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (largest in the segment), UVO Connect connectivity suite, a 7-inch screen for the instrument cluster, 8-speaker Bose audio system, in-car WiFi, 360 degree camera (first-in-segment) with blind view monitor and rear view monitor, 8-inch head-up display (HUD), MID, wireless charging, rear AC vents, cruise control, ambient lighting, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control with speedometer and analogue tachometer and a sunroof.

The Selto also gets AI enabled voice command services along with auto collision notifications, remote engine start/stop, stolen vehicle tracking and immobilization, SIS emergency calling, remote-controlled air purification, safety alerts and air quality monitor.

Features such as black leather seat upholstery, piano finish inserts on the dashboard add more to its premium appearance. There are multiple storage compartments along with armrest for both front and rear seats. The list of safety features includes 6 airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), brake assist, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, traction control, hill assist, electronic parking brake and parking sensors. The Kia Seltos has been designed and engineered for global markets. Upfront, the SUV features the company’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, vertical fog lamps, sporty bumper and clamshell bonnet. It also gets 5-spoke, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, blacked out pillars, sloping roofline, sculpted tailgate, thick black plastic cladding, silver skid plate, wrap around LED tail lamps and a large diffuser. Kia’s new premium SUV will be made available in 8 colour options including dual-tone roof scheme.
