Kia Motor recently revealed its first car for the Indian market – the Kia Seltos. While the official launch of the SUV is slated to happen in late August, its pre-booking will be commenced in the second week of July. For people not in the know, Kia Seltos is the production avatar of the Kia SP concept that broke cover at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. 1. Multiple Engine & Gearbox Options
Buyers will have three engine and four transmission options to choose from. Kia has confirmed that Seltos GT Line will come with a 1.4L turbocharged diesel engine pushing out power more than 140bhp. With this high-performance engine, the Kia Seltos will become the most powerful SUV in its league. There will be two petrol engines – a 1.4L turbocharged and a 1.5L naturally aspirated. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch (DTC) automatic, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a CVT. The DCT gearbox will be made available with the powerful, turbocharged petrol powertrain.
2. First-in-Segment Features
Kia Seltos comes with a host of first-in-segment features including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation system, an 8-speaker Bose audio system with mood lighting, rear AC vent, an air purifier placed between the front two seats, a 360 degree surround camera for better visibility and multiple driving modes (Normal, Eco and Sports). The SUV also has UVO connected car system supporting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. 3. High On Safety
Besides several first-in-class features, Kia Seltos has been packed with advanced passive and active safety features. All variants of the SUV get airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) and brake assist. Fitments such as traction control, vehicle stability management, hill assist, safety alerts, auto collision notification system, SOS emergency assistance, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake and parking sensors are also on offer.
4. 13 Colour Options

5. Aggressive Pricing
Prices of the new Kia SUV are likely to fall in the range of Rs 10 lakh – Rs 16 lakh. If launched in this price range, the Kia Seltos will face challenge from Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks. The top-spec trim of the Seltos will put up against the Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and the upcoming MG Hector.
