Kia Seltos Records Lowest Sales In December Since Its Launch
Kia Seltos has been a runway success for the Korean carmaker in India. Within 4 months of its launch, the company sold over 40,000 units of the compact SUV. In December 2019, however, the Kia Seltos registered its lowest sales ever since its launch. The Korean carmaker managed to retail 4,645 units of the Seltos last month.
Its arch rival – Hyundai Creta recorded total sales of 6,719 units outnumbering the Seltos with a margin of 2074 units. With sales of 3,656 units, the Mahindra Scorpio stood at third position in December, 2019. In fact, th Kia Seltos was outsold by Hyundai Creta in November, 2019 with a decent margin. In December 2019, the Hyundai Creta was available with lucrative discounts of 95,000 including a cash discount of Rs 65,000 and an exchange bonus of Rs 30,000. It could be one of the reasons behind strong sales of the vehicle.
The Kia Seltos, on the other hand, witnessed a price hike by up to Rs 34,000 in January, 2020. Now, the compact SUV comes in the price range of Rs 9.89 lakh – Rs 17.34 lakh (ex-showroom).
The company is working on the electric version of the Kia Seltos that will be launched globally in 2020. It can offer a range of 243mile (which is around 391km) and accelerate 0 to 60mph in 9.7 seconds. The Kia Seltos Electric might also make its way to India.
