Kia Seltos will directly rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster

The much-anticipated Kia Seltos 5-seater premium SUV will make its global debut tomorrow. It will be the brand’s first model in our market. In fact, trial production of the Seltos has already been started at the Kia’s new Anantpur plant in Andhra Pradesh. The SUV will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the Nissan Kicks.

The Kia Seltos is built on the monocoque front-wheel-drive platform, which is compatible to accommodate a 7-seater SUV. The next-gen Hyundai Creta will also be based on this platform. It is based on the SP concept, which was showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Going by the spy images available on the internet, it is clear that the production-spec model looks largely identical to the SP2i concept.

In terms of styling, the Kia Seltos gets the bold and aggressive design. Upfront is a signature Tiger Nose grille, sharp headlamps with LED daytime running lights, strong lines on the clamshell bonnet and sporty bumper. There are strong character lines that run across the length. It has raked windshield, blacked-out pillars, sloping roofline, shark fin antenna and ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. At the back, the SUV gets roof integrated spoiler, sculpted tailgate, wrap-around LED tail-lights, chrome bar connecting tail-lamps, beefier bumper with large diffuser and thick black plastic cladding and silver skid plate. It is expected that the Kia Seltos will receive the new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, which will also power the Verna facelift and the next-gen Hyundai Creta. It is reported that Kia is also developing a performance oriented version of the Seltos, which will receive the 140PS, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
