Kia Seltos Continues To Lead The Segment – September Sales Report

The response the Kia Seltos has received ever since its launch must have overwhelmed the folks at Kia Motors India. The compact SUV made a strong debut with sales of 6200 units in its very first month of arrival and it didn’t stop there; the Seltos has outsold all its rivals for the second month in a row. In August 2019, the Korean carmaker managed to sell 6236 units of the SUV.

In September 2019, the Kia Seltos registered its highest ever monthly sales of 7,754 units. With such impressive sales figures, it continues to lead the segment by outnumbering cars like Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Jeep Compass.

The Kia Seltos has received over 40,000 bookings so far. Currently, the compact SUV commands a waiting period up to 2 months. Production of the Seltos takes place at Kia Motors India’s Anantapur plant that has a production capacity of 3 lakh units per annum.

Initially, the Kia Seltos was made available in a total of 16 variants spread across 2 trims – Tech Line and GT Line. In September, the carmaker introduced two new fully-loaded variants of the SUV – GTX+ with petrol and diesel engine options. Currently, the Seltos carline comes in the price range of Rs 9.69 lakh – Rs 16.99 lakh (all, ex-showroom).

Kia Seltos Waiting Period

Engine setup of the Kia Seltos includes – a 1.4-litre GDI turbo petrol, a 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.5-litre VGT diesel. While oil burner makes 113bhp with 250Nm, the 14L and 1.5L petrol motors produce 138bhp with 242Nm and 113bhp with 144Nm respectively. The 1.5L petrol motor is matched to a 6-speed manual and an IVT (Intelligent continuously variable transmission) automatic transmission. The 1.5L diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
