Kia QYi Subcompact SUV Rendered; Shares Bits With Seltos

Kia QYi Render

A few days back, we have reported that Kia Motors India is planning to foray into the subcompact SUV space with an all-new model. Codenamed Kia QYi, the sub-4-metre SUV will face challenge from cars like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300. Design and details of the Kia QYi are still under the wraps, though a latest digital rendering gives us a fair idea about its looks.

The new Kia SUV will share most of its design bits with the Seltos, especially the front end. The grille and headlamps of the QYi look exactly similar to the Seltos, but are smaller in size.  The top of the hood is merging with the grille featuring indicators and LED DRLs (daytime running lights). The bumpers have vertical scoops on either side.

The flared wheel arches with alloys, roof rails and black cladding running across the lower end of side profile further add to its sporty looks. The Kia QYi subcompact SUV will also share its platform with the Kia Seltos. The same architecture will underpin the new-generation Hyundai Creta that will debut at the 2020 Auto Expo in February.

The interior layout of the Kia QYi could be similar to the Seltos. The latest spy pictures confirm that the SUV will get a floating touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and UVO Connect suit offering multiple features under five different categories. As far as engines are concerned, the Kia QYi might get a 1.2L Kappa petrol, a 1.0L T-GDi petrol and a 1.5L diesel motor. All powertrains will be sourced from the Kia Seltos and meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms.
