Kia QYI Compact SUV Launch in the Second Half of 2020

Korean automaker, Kia is planning to launch 2 new cars in the Indian market in 2020. The first model will be the Kia Carnival premium MPV, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The company will introduce the updated version of the MPV in our market at the next year’s biennial event. The second Kia product for our market will be a sub-4 meter SUV, which will also make global debut at Auto Expo 2020 in a concept form.

Codenamed QYI, the Kia sub-4 meter SUV will be based on the Hyundai Venue’s platform. The new model has already been spotted testing in India. It is most likely to be launched in the second half of 2020, around July-August. The sub-4 meter SUV will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Kia Seltos Variants

The Kia QYI compact SUV will share most of the design cues and interior components with the Seltos SUV. However, the design will be slightly different to keep things fresh in the market. The upcoming Kia QYi compact SUV will be powered by a BSVI compliant 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Hyundai Venue. This engine is capable of producing 118bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The diesel model will receive the new 1.5-litre engine that also powers the Seltos. While powering the Seltos, the diesel unit offers 115bhp and 250Nm of torque. This engine comes with variable geometry turbocharger, while the QYi compact SUV’s 1.5L engine could come with fixed geometry turbocharger.
