Kia Optima Sedan Spotted Testing In India For The First Time

In India, the Kia Optima sedan will be stacked up against the upcoming new Honda Civic.

Aiming to establish its footsteps in the Indian automobile industry, Kia Motors will soon commence its operations with an all-new SUV. While the first product of the Korean carmaker will be the SP concept based vehicle, it will also bring in several other models. Kia might enter the premium sedan segment with the Optima that was recently spotted testing in India.

Packed with a plethora of comfort goodies, advanced safety features and efficient engine lineup, the Kia Optima sedan is likely to take on the upcoming Honda Civic. It will also lock horns against the Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octiava, Volkswagen Jetta and Hyundai Elantra. The Korean carmaker showcased the plug-in hybrid version of the Optima sedan at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.

The Optima is one of the most aerodynamic Kia cars featuring the signature Tiger nose grille, LED headlamps, LED fog lamps and sharp creases. Being a premium product, the sedan will be loaded with several goodies including a 7/8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10-speaker Harman/Kardon speaker system and ventilated and heated front seats.

This list of features also include automatic climate control, a panoramic electric sunroof, rear air-conditioning vents, rear armrests, wireless smartphone charging, heated steering wheel, leather seat upholstery etc. For safety provision, the sedan will have rear park assist, a rear view camera, powered driver and passenger seats and lane change assist. Read: Kia Grand Carnival MPV – 5 Things You Need To Know

Globally, the Kia Optima sedan comes with multiple petrol engine options including a 1.6-litre, a 2.0-litre turbocharged and a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated unit. Transmission options include a 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Unlike the global-spec version, the India-bound model might get 1.6-litre diesel powertrain sourced from the Hyundai Elantra.
