The much-anticipated Kia Sonet sub-4 meter SUV is scheduled to make global debut on August 7, 2020. A new media report claims that Kia will start accepting bookings for the new sub-4 meter SUV on the same day. The compact SUV is rumoured to be launched in the first half of September 2020.
The Kia Sonet compact SUV will take on the likes of the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue. It will be brand’s third model in the country. In fact, Kia will also export the new sub-4 meter SUV to select international markets including Indonesia.
The new Kia Sonet shares its platform and engine options with the popular Hyundai Venue. It will be offered with 3 engine options – a 82bhp, 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol, a 118bhp, 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol, a 99bhp, 1.5L turbo-charged diesel. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT (1.0L Petrol), a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (Diesel) and a 6-speed IMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) with 1.0L unit.
In terms of proportions, the Kia Sonet is 3,995mm long, 1,770mm wide and 1,605mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,500mm. Design highlights include Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, silver skid plate, blacked-out pillars, a sloping roofline, LED tail-lamps, and roof integrated spoiler with brake light.
The new Kia Sonet compact SUV will be equipped with several high-end comfort and convenience features. It comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO Connect connected car technology, automatic climate control, an electric sunroof, wireless charging, keyless entry, multiple airbags, cruise control, etc.
