Kia Motors India Records Its Highest Monthly Sales – Thanks to Seltos, Carnival
Kia Motors India has registered its highest ever monthly sales of 15,644 units in February 2020. The Korean carmaker managed to sell over 15,000 units of the Seltos SUV, which is highest ever monthly sales of the SUV since its launch in August last year. In January 2020, Kia introduced its second product – Carnival and dispatched 450 units of the luxury MPV in the same month. The MPV comes to India via Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route and is priced from Rs 24.95 lakh to Rs 33.95 lakh (all, ex-showroom Delhi).
The Korean carmaker is planning to further expand its SUV lineup with the all-new Sonet subcompact SUV that broke cover at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company aims to sell over 70,000 Kia Sonet in its very first month of arrival in the country. It will face challenge from cars like Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon.
The company is also considering a compact MPV for the Indian market that’s likely to be based on the Seltos’ platform. If it’s launched, the new Kia MPV will be put up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo. Similar to the Seltos, it will be manufactured at Kia’s Anantapur based facility in Andhra Pradesh. The new Kia MPV might hit our shores by the end of 2021.
