Korean automaker, Kia has recently trademarked the EV6 nameplate in India. It is the brand’s first electric offering, which received an overwhelming response globally. A new media report claims that the Kia EV6 electric crossover will arrive in our market by June 2022.
The Kia EV6 electric crossover will arrive in our market as a CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit). It is expected to remain identical to the global model in terms of design, features or electric powertrain. It is based on the e-GMP platform, which also underpins the soon-to-be-launched Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Kia EV6 features the brand’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy that offers a sporty overall look.
In terms of styling, the Kia EV6 features the signature Tiger nose grille, sleek DRLs, headlamps with a sequential dynamic light patterns and a low air intake. The side profile looks crossover-inspired with sharp lines, a swept-back windshield and a character line running along the bottom of the doors curving upwards towards the rear wheel arches. Att the back, the electric crossover gets a sloping rear C-pillar with an integrated black glossy insert, a prominent roof spoiler & unique tail-lamps.
Inside the cabin, the Kia EV6 offers a dual-screen layout – one for the instrument panel & another for the infotainment screen. It offers connected car tech, an augmented reality heads-up display, ADAS safety features and a new two-spoke steering wheel.
The Kia EV6 comes with two battery pack versions – a 58kWh and a 77.4kWh. The 58kWh battery pack offers in two configurations – RWD layout with a 170bhp single motor & an AWD layout with a 235bhp, dual-motor setup. The larger battery pack comes with a 229bhp single-motor RWD setup and a 325bhp, dual-motor AWD setup. The range-topping performance-focused GT guise comes with a dual-motor AWD layout that produces 585bhp and 740Nm.
