Kia EV6 electric crossover is all set to hit Indian roads in the coming months. Ahead of its official arrival, the company has confirmed that its pre-bookings will commence on 26th May, 2022. It will be Kia’s first and flagship electric car in the country. Here, the model will be brought via CBU (Completely Built Up) route and then assembled at the company’s local plant. The electric crossover will be offered in a single, fully-loaded variant and only 100 units will be sold in its first year. The Kia EV6 price in India is estimated to be above Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Read – Kia To Launch A Mass Market Small Petrol SUV In India

The automaker will offer the range-topping GT-Line variant that comes with a dual e-AWD system paired to a 77.4kWh battery pack pushing out a peak power of 320bhp and 605Nm of torque. It will offer a range of around 425km on a full charge. Globally, the EV6 has also been offered with a 58kWh battery pack that can be had with either a RWD (rear-wheel drive) or AWD (all-wheel drive) configuration. While the former makes a top power of 168bhp, the latter comes with dual-motor setup and delivers 235bhp. The smaller battery pack model might be introduced at a later stage.

Kia India’s Future Plans

The South Korean automaker is also considering a small electric SUV for the Indian market. Codenamed AY, the model will underpin a flexible platform that will also be used for Kia’s upcoming mass-market entry-level petrol SUV. Both models are reported to arrive sometime in 2025.

The upcoming Kia small petrol SUV is likely to sit below the Sonet in the company’s product lineup. It would be quite early to comment on its engine setup. Though, the model is reported to borrow engines from the Grand i10 Nios – i.e. a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol. The new Kia small petrol SUV might also be offered with the factory-fitted CNG kit option as well.
