Kia EV6 Bookings Start In 12 Cities; Only 100 Units Allotted for 2022

Kia India is ready to launch its first electric car in India – EV6. It’s an electric crossover based on E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform). Official bookings for the Kia EV6 have been commenced today at an initial sum of Rs 3 lakh across 15 select dealerships in 12 cities. The model can also be booked online on the company’s website.

Prices of the electric crossover will be revealed on 2nd June 2022. The carmaker says that the EV6 offers a “combination of bold design, progressive engineering, innovative technologies, and exciting electric performance”.

One must note that only 100 units of the Kia EV6 will be sold in India this year.  Here, it will come via Completely Built Unit (CBU) route and estimated to cost between Rs 65 lakh – Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom). Indian customers will get its GT Line trims only. The India-spec Kia EV6 will come with a 77.4kWh battery pack with RWD and AWD drivetrain system options. It’s claimed to offer a range of over 500km (WLTP) on a single charge. While its RWD version will have a single rear motor, the AWD variant will get dual motor setup.

The new Kia electric car will be made available with 4 charging options – a 350kW charger, a 50kW charger, 25kW charger and 15kW charger. The 350kW charger will juice up the battery 10-18% in 18 minutes and 50kW charger takes 1 hour 13 minutes to do the same. The 25kW and 15kW chargers and regular power socket (0 to 100% in 36 hours) will take longer time.

Some of its key features will include a dual 12.3-inch displays, ventilated and powered front seats, dual zone climate control, wireless phone charger, a sunroof, 8 airbags, ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), electronic stability control and Isofix child seat anchorages.
