Kia Cross-Hatch India Launch On The Cards – Report

The new Kia cross-hatch is reported to go on sale sometime in 2021.

Kia Motors had announced its plan to expand its Indian product lineup with 6 new models in the next 3 years. The first one to hit the showrooms is the SP concept based SUV, followed by a compact SUV. While the production version of the Kia SP concept is slated to launch in August 2019, the new compact SUV will debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.

According to Autocar, the third Kia car for India will be a cross-hatchback based on the new-generation Kia Rio hatch. The new Kia cross-hatch will go on sale sometime in 2021. For people not in the know, the Rio’s cross-hatch version (K2 Cross) is already on sale in global markets such as Russia and China.

Dimensionally, the Kia K2 Cross (China-spec) measures 4240mm in length 1750mm in width and 1505mm in height with a wheelbase of 2600mm and ground clearance of 175mm. Compared to the Rio hatchback that’s 4064mm long, 1725mm wide, the cross-hatch is longer and wider. Some of its key features will include the front bumper integrated LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, multifunctional steering wheel, a multimedia system with a colour screen, a key access system with a start button, leather seats, heated front seats, etc. Official engine details of the Kia cross-hatchback are yet to be revealed. Though, it’s reported to get a 118bhp, 1.0L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L diesel engines borrowed from the upcoming compact SUV.
