Kia Considering Soul EV, Stinger, Niro EV and Sorento for India

Kia had launched the Seltos SUV in the country on August 22, 2019. The SUV has received overwhelming response from buyers with over 35,000 units booked within 2 months. A new media report claims that Kia is considering multiple imported models to position itself as a premium automaker in the Indian market.

The report claims that Kia is aiming to introduce 4-5 imported models in India. The company will first launch the Kia Carnival premium MPV in the first quarter of 2020, most probably around Auto Expo 2020. Adding to it, the company is considering the Soul EV, Niro EV, Sorento, Stinger and Telluride for our market. However, the Telluride is a full-size left-hand-drive model and is not likely to arrive in our market.

Kia is also considering the electric vehicles including Soul EV and the Niro EV. Out of these 2 models, Kia is likely to launch only one. At the 2018 Auto Expo, Kia had showcased the Stinger mid-sized fastback. It is reported that the Stinger could be launched in our market as a halo product. Kia Sorento is a premium SUV, which will challenge the Skoda Kodiaq. The company will introduce the next-gen model in the first half of 2020, which could arrive in our market by 2021.

Kia Motors is aiming to cover different segments with multiple products in the price range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Previous media report claims that Kia could launch the Ceed in our market. The new models will be imported as a CKD models and will be locally assembled at the Anantapur plant.

Kia Stinger GTS

Kia Motors is expected to launch the Carnival 7-seater premium MPV in the country in 2020. The company will launch the facelift version of the MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo. Adding to it, Kia will also introduce the sub-4 meter SUV in the end of 2020.
