Kia Carnival India Launch

Kia will showcase the facelift version of the Carnival MPV at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.

Kia Motors will launch its first model – the Kia Seltos SUV in India in August 2019. The company plans to launch an all-new model in our market in every six months till 2022. We reported earlier that the Korean automaker is planning to launch the global Carnival MPV and an all-new crossover-hatch in India in the next 1 year. According to the AutoCar India, the Carnival MPV will be Kia’s second model for our market.

The report further claims that the Kia will showcase the facelift version of the Carnival MPV at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. The launch is expected soon after the Auto Expo, most probably in March 2020. It will arrive as a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta. The MPV will be positioned a half or a segment above the Toyota. It will be loaded with several segment-leading features. The MPV will come as a CKD (Completely Knocked-Down Kit) unit and will be assembled at the company’s new Andhra Pradesh based facility. We believe that the Kia Carnival premium MPV could be priced between Rs 22 lakh and Rs 28 lakh.

In terms of size and equipment, the Kia Carnival has an advantage over the Innova Crysta. It measures 5,155mm in length, 1,985mm in width and 1,740mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,060mm. The MPV is 380mm longer and 155mm wider than the Crysta. While the global-spec model is offered in 4 seating layouts – 7-seat, 8-seat, 9-seat and 11-seat, the India-spec model is likely to be made available in 7-seat configuration with captain seats for the second row.

While the Toyota Innova is based on the ladder-frame chassis, the Kia Carnival is built on a front-wheel-drive platform. The MPV will come equipped with a large touchscreen infotainment system with Kia’s UVO connect features, two sunroofs, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic AC, dedicated AC vents for the rear occupants, two 10.1-inch touch display for the second row passengers and many more. This engine produces 199bhp of maximum power at 3,800rpm and a peak torque of 441Nm between 1,750-2,750rpm. Its direct rival Innova Crysta is being offered in petrol and diesel guise.
