Kia Carnival MPV & Rio Hatchback Might Launch In India In 2020 – Report

Kia Carnival MPV India

Kia Carnival MPV is reported to launch by March 2020, followed by the Rio hatchback.

Kia Motors has finally commenced pre-production assembly at its Anantapur based plant in Andhra Pradesh. The carmaker also previewed its first product codenamed Kia SP2i, albeit in a heavily camouflaged avatar. The production-ready version of the SP2i premium compact SUV will lock horns against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the newly-launched Nissan Kicks. Reports suggest that it could be named Kia Trazor or Kia Tusker.

The Kia SP concept based SUV will hit roads sometime in July, 2019. The Korean carmaker plans to further expand its product lineup and introduce one new product in every six months for three years. For this, the company will also make use of the annual production capacity of 3 lakh units of its Anantapur facility.

According to an online media report, the Kia Carnival premium MPV will be the second big launch from the Korean carmaker in India. It’s likely to see a release by March, 2020. With premium styling and practicaly and luxurious interior, the Carnival MPV will take on the Toyota Innova Crysta and the newly-launched Mercedes-Benz V-Class.

The third Kia product could be a premium hatchback or cross-hatchback based on the Rio hatch. This premium hatchback will share platform with the Hyundai Elite i20 and compete against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and the production version of the Tata 45X. As far as launch is concerned, the Kia Rio hatch or cross-hatch is reported to go on sale in September, 2020.

One must note that there is no official word about Kia Carnival MPV and Rio hatch/cross-hatch launch timeline.
