Kia Carnival India Launch

The Kia Carnival MPV will go on sale in our market in the first quarter of 2020.

We informed you earlier that the Carnival MPV will be the Kia’s second offering for the Indian car market. The company is currently gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Seltos SUV, which will challenge the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the Renault Duster. The Kia Carnival MPV will go on sale in the first quarter of 2020. The company will showcase the facelift version of the MPV at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo in February.

The Kia Carnival will arrive as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and is expected to be priced around Rs 22 lakh – Rs 28 lakh. It will be launched as a premium alternative to the popular Toyota Innova Crysta, which is available in the price range of Rs 14.93 lakh – Rs 22.43 lakh. It measures 5,115mm in length, 1,985mm in width, 1,740mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,060mm. Going by the dimensions, the Carnival is significantly bigger than the Innova Crysta. The Kia Carnival will be powered by a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that also powers the International-spec model. This powertrain will be compliant with BS6 emission norms. It is capable of producing 200bhp of power at 3,800rpm and 441Nm of torque between 1,750-2,750rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Innova, on the other hand, is available with 2 diesel engine options – a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder and a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder. However, the Carnival turbo-charged diesel engine will produce significantly higher power and torque than the Innova’s diesel powertrains.

The International-spec Kia Carnival is also available with a petrol engine option. It gets a 3.3-litre V6 engine producing 270bhp of power and 318Nm of torque. This engine option is not likely to be offered on the Carnival MPV.
