Kia Carens CNG With 1.4L Turbo Engine Spotted – Launch Soon

The Korean automaker, Kia is preparing multiple new models including EVs and CNG cars for the Indian market. The company is currently testing the Sonet CNG, which is expected to be launched in the coming days. Adding to it, Kia is also developing the new Carens CNG which could be launched in the market soon.

It is reported that Kia has opted for the 1.4L turbo petrol for the CNG option. The Carens is also available with the 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Not just Carens, Kia has also opted for the 1.0L turbo petrol for the CNG version of the Sonet sub-4 meter SUV. It is expected that the Kia Carens will be the first CNG model in the country with a turbo petrol engine.

In fact, the spy images of the Kia Carens CNG version have already hit the web. The new model is expected to feature the 1.4L turbo petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG gearbox, and a 6-speed manual gearbox. These details are also visible on the spy images.

In fact, the CNG tank is also visible in the boot of the Kia Carens. The Carens 1.5L petrol engine with CNG option would not make sense as it could prove to be underpowered for 6-7 passengers along with luggage. The 1.4L turbo petrol engine with CNG kit will offer ample power and torque.

Kia Carens 1.4L turbo CNG Spied

The 1.4L turbo-charged petrol engine is capable of producing 140PS of power at 6,000rpm and 242Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 3200rpm. This engine is also offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The CNG powered Kia Carens will be positioned against the Maruti Ertiga, which is currently the only model to come with a factory-fitted CNG option. The Carens is most likely to be the first CNG car in the country with a turbo petrol engine.
