Fiat Chrysler Automobile had revealed its 5 year plan for Indian market in June 2018. The company plans to launch 2 all-new models – a sub-4 meter SUV and a 3-row mid-size SUV under Jeep brand in India by 2022. If latest media report is to be believed, the 7-seater SUV will go on sale in India in 2022.
The American brand is already selling 2 mid-size SUVs in international markets – the Cherokee and the Commander. However, the India-spec model will be a low D 3-row model and will come to India by 2022. It will be a low-cost model, which means the new SUV will be designed and developed from scratch and will have different design and interior.

We believe that the new 7-seater SUV could use the Compass platform, which is already localised in India. This would help the automaker to price it aggressively in the market. This model is likely to challenge the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and others in its category. While the Jeep Compass top-end variant costs around Rs 23-24 lakh (on-road price), the upcoming 7-seater SUV is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 30 lakh.
Besides this, the Jeep will also launch a sub-4 meter SUV based on the Panda’s platform. The new sub-compact SUV will go on sale in India by 2020. This sub-4 meter SUV will challenge the likes of Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza.
