August 30, 2016: The American iconic SUV maker has finally introduced the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs in the Indian market. The Wrangler is exclusively available in the 4-door ‘Unlimited’ variant priced at Rs 71.59 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi. Powering the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is a 2.8-litre CRD turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 197.2bhp (200PS) of power and 460Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 5-speed automatic gearbox and command Trac 4WD system as standard. This off-roader is claimed to return 12.1kmpl of mileage.
As a reminder, both the SUVs made their public appearance at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in early February. Initially, the carmaker will import the SUV to India via CBU (completely built up) route. This premium off-roader not only carries brand’s legendary traction, articulation and water fording capabilities, but offers outstanding off-road performance as well. Jeep India is planning to set up its 10 outlets in 9 cities by the end of this year.

With bold stances and robust body-built, the Jeep Wrangler looks quite rugged and sporty. The SUV features headlamps, fog lights, black fuel filler bezel, heated power mirrors, full-framed doors with roll-up windows, hood decal, side steps, a wide range of wheels and park turn lamps. Dimensions of the Wrangler measure 4,583 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width and 1,829 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,947 mm, and a ground clearance of 238.2 mm. It comes with removable doors, a three-piece modular, removable hard top as well as with a soft top – a standard addition to the Wrangler package.
The interior of the SUV is as sporty and premium as its exterior. The seats are offered with McKinley leather upholstery with accent stitching. The SUV comes loaded with plenty of comfort and connectivity features such as a 6.5-inch Uconnect 130 system with navigation system accessible via voice commands, AM/FM radio, CD player, 9-speaker Alpine premium sound system with four 6.5-inch speakers, audio input jack and MP3 format capability, an all-weather subwoofer and two weather-resistant tweeters, lockable centre console, premium instrument cluster, heated front seats, power outlets, etc.

The India-spec Jeep Wrangler comes fitted with a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine that serves a maximum power of 197bhp at 3,600rpm and 460Nm of torque between 1,600-2,600 rpm. This powertrain is coordinated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, supported by Command-Trac Shift-On-The-Fly 4WD (four-wheel drive) system.
