Jeep To Launch 2 New SUVs Next Year
Jeep India is ready to foray into the sub-4-meter SUV segment with an all-new model. Besides this, the American carmaker will give a mid-life update to its highly-popular Compass SUV. Both models will hit roads sometime next year.
Talking about the Jeep’s new subcompact SUV, the vehicle will put up against the cars like Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. It’s rumored to be based on Fiat Panda’s 4X4 platform.
At the engine front, the new Jeep subcompact SUV might get the de-tuned version of the Compass’s 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine. A 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine from Fiat’s FireFly lineup could also be on offer. It makes a peak power of 118bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox will be on offer.
The 2020 Jeep Compass facelift could also be benefited with a new 1.3L, 4-cylinder FireFly turbocharged petrol engine replacing the existing 1.4L MultiAir motor. The former will deliver two power outputs – 150PS with 270Nm and 180PS with 270Nm. The updated Compass might get the 180PS version of the new gasoline unit.
The diesel version of the 2020 Jeep Compass will get the BS6-compliant 2.0L Multijet II turbo engine dishing out a peak power of 171bhp and 350Nm of torque. The compact SUV will also receive subtle cosmetic changes along with a pack of new comfort and safety features.
