The American SUV manufacturer, Jeep is working on an all-new SUV that will initially be launched in the European and Latin American markets. In the company’s global lineup, the new entry-level Jeep SUV will be positioned below the Renegade. The former will also be rolled out in emerging markets, and the latter one is set to make its way to Indian towards the end of this year.
Talking to an online media publication, Jeep CEO Mike Manley confirmed that the company will use a new, lighter platform for its new entry-level compact SUV. The vehicle will share its architecture with the new-generation Fiat Panda (4X4) small car instead of the Renegade that underpins the Fiat 500X platform. Report further suggests that Jeep might make an official announcement on June 1, 2018. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will reveal its next five year plan for its group and brands including Fiat Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Dodge, Maserati, Chrysler, Lancia and Ram. As of now, there is no information about new Jeep compact SUV’s design and specifications.
For the Indian market, the American carmaker has lined-up the Renegade compact SUV that will go up against the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. Besides this, the company will introduce the new Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee. Speculations are also on rife that the company might bring a 7-seater SUV to challenge Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in India.
Jeep recently revealed the customized Easter Safari concepts in Moab, Utah in USA. All seven concepts have been designed jointly by Jeep and FCA’s parts and service organization – Mopar. The list of concepts includes Jeep 4Speed, Jeep Sandstom, Jeep B-Ute, Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip, Nacho Jeep, Jeep Jeepster and Jeep J-Wagon.
