We reported earlier that the much-awaited Jeep Jeepster compact SUV will make public debut at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, which is scheduled from September 17. The company will first introduce the electrified version of the SUV, and the petrol & hybrid versions are likely to arrive in 2023.
The Jeep Jeepster prototypes are in an advanced state of development, which is visible from the spy images available on the web. Jeep has announced to reveal its electrification plans including the unveiling of the new Jeepster SUV, on September 8, 2022. However, general public will be able to see the new Jeep B-SUV at the 2022 Paris Motor Show.
The new Jeep B-SUV will measure around 4.2 meters in length and the ICE version will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in its category. The new crossover will come with a very modern design, with the classic seven-slot grille transformed into a closed panel. The SUV has heavily flared arches, chunky black cladding, a dual-tone colour scheme and LED tail-lights. It is a more urban-oriented SUV, which will be positioned below the Renegade in Jeep’s line-up.
The cabin of the new Jeepster will share styling cues from the Peugeot 2008; however, the SUV’s interior components are different. It will have a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, which is likely to be a 10.5-inch unit. The spy images reveal that the dashboard will have a full-width climate vents, few physical buttons next to the volume knob and a large tray covering more than half of the dashboard.
The new Jeep Jeepster will be based on the Stellantis CMP/eCMP architecture that underpins a wide range of models including the Citroen C3, the Peugeot 2008 and the next-gen Fiat 500X. It is expected to come in front-wheel-drive layout with ICE & EV powertrains. The electric version is likely to feature a 50kWh battery pack with a front-mounted electric motor producing 134bhp. The India-spec ICE powered model is expected to feature a 1.2-litre PureTech turbocharged petrol engine with a mild hybrid setup.
