Fiat Chrysler Automobiles revealed its five-year road map last week. The announcement was focused mainly around four brand names – Jeep, Maserati, Ram and Romeo – and each one of them has a bevy of new models in the pipeline. FCA’s owned subsidiary, Jeep is the most crucial brand in its portfolio for the long-term global success of the company.

The American SUV maker will expand its global product lineup with models right from new Renegade to new Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer. Besides this, the company will also introduce ten plug-in-hybrid EVs (PHEVs) and four battery EVs (BEVs) by 2022. Jeep has also announced a new off-road focused package – the ‘Deserthawk’ – which is expected to see a release by 2020. For people not in the know, the carmaker has already used the ‘Deserthawk’ name for the Jeep Renegade Deserthawk limited edition. Read – Upcoming Jeep SUVs In India

To be positioned against the Ford Raptor, the all-new Jeep Deserthawk off-road package is likely to be offered on the Cherokee platform-based SUVs. The new models will carry a new triangular “Desert Rated” badge and underpinned by “eight desert-specific engineering standards” combined with ‘ultimate Jeep high speed off-road capability’.

Details of the package are still under the wraps, though it is likely to feature long-travel, heavy-duty suspension setup. It might also get knobby tyres and undercarriage reinforcements. As far as the pricing is concerned, the Jeep Deserthawk models are estimated to be around $5-10,000 more expensive than their standard versions. Read – Jeep Compass Trailhawk Is Ready For Launch

Jeep has also announced the new Trackhawk and Trailhawk packages that will serve its performance division. The former is likely to be $5,000 to $10,000 pricier than the standard model. The carmaker also teased an all-new product packed with on-road urban capability and fully connected mobility. This new model could be named ‘Urbanhawk’, though the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed any details.
