Jeep Compass Trailhawk Production Begins; Launch Soon
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will come with a BS6-ready 2.0L Multijet II diesel engine.
Production of the India-spec Jeep Compass Trailhawk has been commenced at the carmaker’s Ranjangaon facility. Earlier, the off-road version of the Compass SUV was scheduled to launch in 2018. Though, the company has postponed its arrival for early next year as Jeep is currently working on BS6-ready powertrain and localizing components for the SUV. Aiming to price the Jeep Compass Trailhawk competitively, the American SUV maker is likely to remove some features from the new top-spec variant. Though, the India-spec model is likely to come with front parking sensors similar to its global version. It will also get a panoramic sunroof and an 8.4-inch Uconnect system.

The SUV’s new top-spec variant will also get 17-inch off-road tyres, Jeep Active Drive Low 4WD system with low range and 20:1 crawl ratio, off-road capable suspension system, red recovery hook, Jeep Selec-Terrain TMS with five modes, four skid plates, back anti-glare hood decal and hill decent control. Power source for the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be a BS6-ready 2.0L Multijet II diesel motor paired to a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic gearbox. It will deliver power worth 170bhp (173PS) and a torque output of 350Nm. In India, the Compass’ off-road version will deliver a top speed of 120kmph.
