Jeep Compass To Get Expensive From January 2018

The price of the Jeep Compass Sport petrol model will remain unchanged.

FCA India has announced a price hike for its top selling compact SUV – Compass. The new prices will get into effect from January 1, 2018. The Jeep Compass will see a price increase from 2 to 4% that will vary variant-wise. Interestingly, the price of the Compass Sport petrol model will remain unchanged. Currently, this variant comes with a price tag of Rs 15.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Besides this, the Jeep Compass has crossed the 10,000 sales milestone in the Indian market. The SUV has achieved this sales mark within a short duration of four months. The company received over 10,000 bookings for the Compass in the very first month of its arrival. Attributes that have worked in its favour are its premium styling, well-packed interior and efficient engine setup and the most importantly its attractive pricing.

Commenting on the new sales milestone, Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India said, “The Jeep Compass is proving to be a popular SUV in a short span of time. Speaking on the price hike, Kevin said, “Customers have appreciated the competitive price positioning of the Jeep Compass since launch. Effective January 1, 2018, prices will increase by 2-4%, except for the entry-level variant, which will be maintained at INR 15.16 lakh (ex-showroom). FCA’s Ranjangaon based manufacturing facility in Maharashtra serves as a production hub for the Compass. In October 2017, the carmaker has exported 600 units of the Made-in-India Compass to Australia and Japan.

In July 2017, Jeep introduced the Compass SUV in the price range of Rs 14.95 lakh – Rs 20.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Post GST, the prices were increased up to Rs 72,000. Currently, the compact SUV is available at a starting price of Rs 15.16 lakh and it goes up to Rs 21.7 lakh (ex-showroom).

Engine options for the Compass include a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder, Multiair turbocharged petrol and a 2-litre Multijet 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel. The former churns out 160bhp with 250Nm, the latter one is good for 170bhp and 350Nm.
