Jawa Classic & 42 Will Get Dual Channel ABS In 2019 – Report

Jawa Forty Two

Both bikes are likely to get this safety feature during the second quarter of 2019.

Jawa Jawa and Jawa Forty Two (42) are now on sale in the Indian market. In fact, the deliveries of the bikes have been commenced across the nation. With their reto-looks, new components and engine, the new Jawa motorcycles attracted lots of attention among enthusiasts. However, both bikes miss out on two important features – ABS (anti-lock braking system) and rear disc brake.

According to a fresh report, Mahindra owned Classic Legends will soon introduce the dual channel ABS system to the Jawa bikes. Just so you know, the government of India has made ABS mandatory for all bikes above 125cc by April 1, 2019. Therefore, the Jawa bikes are likely to get this safety feature during the second quarter of 2019. Read: 2019 Jawa, Jawa 42 – All Negatives & Positives!

In terms of pricing, the dual channel ABS equipped models of the motorcycles will surely be slightly more expensive than their non-ABS versions. The new models could be Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 pricier than the regular Jawa Jawa and Jawa 42 that cost Rs 1.64 lakh and Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Check Out – Jawa Dealership City-Wise List

Both motorcycles uses a 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine pushing out power worth 27bhp and a peak torque of 28Nm. This BS6-ready motor features a catalytic convertor and comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The same powertrain has been used in the factory custom bobber – Jawa Perak – priced at Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The bobber, however, gets a bigger bore with displacement of 332cc and delivers 30bhp against 31Nm of torque. While the price of the Perak has already been revealed, it will go on sale at a later stage.
