The second-gen Toyota Fortuner petrol range starts from Rs 26.66 lakh and goes up to Rs 28.35 lakh. On the other hand, the diesel-powered Fortuner falls in the price vicinity of Rs 28.26 lakh to Rs 31.86 lakh (all-prices mentioned are from ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Isuzu MU-X uses a high-capacity 3.0-litre, inline, four-cylinder, turbo diesel engine tuned to develop maximum power of 174bhp at 3,600rpm and 380Nm of peak torque between 1800 to 2800rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed automatic unit with a choice between 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains.
Taking a leap into the second generation, the meaty Toyota Fortuner is offered with petrol and diesel engines. The two petrol variants in the range derive power from the 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol unit good for 163.7bhp at 5200rpm and 245Nm of torque at 4000rpm. Diesel range in the line-up sources power from the 2.8-litre GD oil burner with 174.5bhp at 3400rpm and 450Nm between 1600 to 2400rpm. Transmission duties on the carline are carried over by a 6-speed manual & 6-speed automatic unit with paddle shifters.
The new and meaner Ford Endeavour misses out on the petrol variants with two diesel engines in the carline. The low displacing 2.2-litre engine makes 152bhp at 3200rpm with 385Nm of torque between 1600 to 2500rpm. On the other hand, the high-capacity 3.2-litre mill produces 197bhp at 3000rpm and 470Nm of torque between 1750rpm to 2500rpm. While the 2.2-litre engine gets an option between 6-speed manual & 6-speed automatic gearbox with 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains, the 3.2-litre variants are offered only with 6-speed AT and 4×4 system.
