Isuzu MU 7 SUV Gets An Automatic Model in India

Isuzu MU7 Front

Isuzu, the Japanese automaker had a partnership with Swaraj Mazda, and it enjoyed a decent presence in commercial vehicle market of India. It came on its own by forming Isuzu Motors India in August 2012, and setup its headquarters in Chennai. The Japanese maker entered the passenger car segment in 2013 with the MU-7 premium SUV. Claimed to be the most spacious SUV in its league, the MU-7 was initially launched in manual version. Now, the company has introduced the automatic version of the SUV in India.

If you are among those planning to buy this vehicle, here’s everything you should know about this.

Styling

The Isuzu MU-7 measures about 5 metre in length, and is even longer than the top-selling car in the segment – Toyota Fortuner. The vehicle gets an aggressive exterior styling with massive toothy grille, flanked by sharp headlamps. It features round shaped fog lamps, small air inlet, and skid plate and bonnet scoop. One looked from side, the 3,050mm long wheelbase is easily evident. The boldly flared wheel arches have been fitted to 16-inch alloys, which we think could have been bigger considering the overall size of the SUVv. At the rear, the MU-7 looks simple with triangle-shaped, silver skid plate and chrome surround on licensing plate.

On the inside, the Isuzu MU-7 SUV gets a dual-tone (Beige/Black) scheme for dashboard, a new 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with controls for audio, new kenwood 6015 BT music system with satellite navigation, rear parking sensors and rear view camera with the touch-screen display. The vehicle is spacious enough to accommodate seven adults quite comfortably.

Engine and Gearbox

Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder, intercooled VGS turbo diesel engine that is capable of producing a top power output of 163bhp and a peak torque 360Nm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels of the SUV via a five-speed manual gearbox. The automatic version is paired to a five-speed automatic transmission.
