SUVs (compact and fully-fledged) are becoming hot favourites among Indian car buyers. In the past few years, we have seen tremendous rise in the SUV segment and considering the increasing demand the car manufacturers are constantly expanding their SUV lineup. Let’s take a look at India’s top 10 selling SUVs of September, 2018 –
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza retained the crown of India’s top-selling SUV with total sales of 14425 units as against 13268 units of the same month last year. The compact SUV accounted 9 percent growth in September, 2018. With a total sales of 4297 units, the Tata Nexon was the third most selling SUV of the month. Here, you can notice that the second and third rankers have a major sales difference of 6,703 units. Mahindra’s highly-popular Scorpio SUV stood at number fourth with sales of 3941 units, followed by the Ford EcoSport that registered sales of 3789 units.
Interestingly, the Mahindra XUV500 beats the Toyota Fortuner with a margin of 334 units. While the former registered total sales of 1902 units, the latter recorded total sales of 1568 units. The eighth and ninth spots are captured by the Jeep Compass and Renault Duster respectively.
The American SUV marker managed to sell 1196 units of the Compass in September, 2018. The Renault Duster that takes on the Hyundai Creta, recorded total sales of 616 units. The compact SUV will see a generation change in India sometime next year. Ford’s Endeavour SUV stood at tenth position with sales of 491 units as compared to 460 units of the same month previous year.
