The mid-size SUV segment is one of the fastest growing segments in the country. A total of 3,768 units of the mid-size SUVs have been sold in the month of April 2021. The Hyundai Creta retains the top spot with sales of 12,463 units as opposed to 12,640 units of the same month previous year. That means, it witnessed a marginal sales decline of 1.40%. Recently, the carmaker updated the Creta with new connectivity options and features.
The second spot has been secured by the Kia Seltos that witnessed a mid-life update early this month. The carmaker discontinued the 1.5L diesel-automatic HTX+ variant and added new trims to the SUV model lineup. In fact, the select variants have been benefited with extra features including paddle shifters, additional voice commands and more. This time around, the Seltos gets a new iMT clutchless manual gearbox. The 2021 Kia Seltos has been priced between Rs 9.95 lakh – Rs 17.65 lakh (ex-showroom).

With total sales of 2,147 units, the MG Hector stood at number third. Prices of the SUV are currently starting from Rs 13.17 lakh for the base model and going up to Rs 18.85 lakh for the fully-loaded top-end variant. The Mahindra Scorpio and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross secured the fourth and fifth spots with sales of 3,577 units and 2,247 units respectively. Mahindra’s Scorpio SUV is ready to enter into its next generation towards the end of this year or early next year.
Tata Motors managed to sell 1,712 units of the Harrier and 1,512 units of the Safari SUVs. The updated Jeep Compass registered total sales of 846 units and Mahindra XUV500 recorded sales of 717 units. The home-grown carmaker is reported to introduce the new XUV500 5-seater in coming years. With total sales of 220 units, the newly-launched Citroen C5 Aircross entered into the list of India’s top 10 selling mid-size SUV.
