The third month of the fiscal year 2018-19 has finally wrapped up on a positive note. What’s interesting to note here is the massive rise in the sales of compact sedans. Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire retained the top spot in the list, thus claiming the crown of India’s best selling sedan in July, 2018. The carmaker sold 25647 units of the Dzire as opposed to 14703 units of the same month last year. It outsold the Alto with a significant margin making it India’s top-selling car this year (January to July).
The new Honda Amaze is the second best-selling sedan in July, 2018. The company managed to retail 10180 units of the sedan, which is the highest ever monthly sales for a single model in HCI’s history. It accounted for over 50 percent of the total sales of Honda Cars India that registered total sales of 19970 units last month.
The new Honda Amaze emerged as a real challenge to the Maruti Suzuki Dizre. Though, there is a significant sales gap of over 15000 units between both the cars. The third spot is grabbed by the Hyundai Xcent that recorded sales of 4,114 units. Honda’s City and Hyundai’ Verna ranked the fourth and the fifth with sales of 3709 units and 3351 units respectively.
With an aim to reverse falling sales of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is ready to give a much needed update to the vehicle in August. While the company is busy clearing inventory of the pre-facelift model, the Ciaz fallen off the list.
The Tata Tigor, which has been generating a decent volume for the home-grown carmaker, was India’s sixth best-selling sedan in July, 2018. The vehicle registered sales of 2269 units as against 1967 units of the same month last year. The Toyota Etios saved the seventh spot with sales of 2213 units, followed by Toyota Yaris that recorded sales of 1400 units. The Ford Aspire and Tata Zest stood at the ninth and tenth positions with total sales of 1069 units and 878 units respectively.
