America’s first motorcycle manufacturer, Indian Motorcycle is known for its vintage forebear iconic motorcycle range. The brand entered India in 2014 with the Indian Chief motorcycle, followed by Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and Chieftain. With an aim to further expand its product lineup, the American bikemaker has added the Indian Roadmaster Classic on its official website. This touring bike is already on sale in USA.
The 2017 Indian Roadmaster Classic is essentially the classed-up version of the standard Roadmaster. While the Indian Roadmaster is priced at Rs 39.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Roadmaster Classic loaded with additional features and special rider command system will cost a bit higher. At the heart of the 2017 Indian Roadmaster Classic will be a 1,811cc Thunder-Stroke V-twin air-cooled engine using a 6-speed manual gearbox. While the US-spec version makes 161.6Nm of torque at 3,000rpm, the India-spec model will be significantly less torquier than the former. The exact torque figures are yet to be revealed by the bikemaker.
Sharing its underpinning and chassis with the Roadmaster, the Roadmaster Classic features a fork-mounted fairing with Ride Command telematics with 7-inch colour touchscreen interface and USB & Bluetooth connectivity. The windshield is electrically adjustable. The bike also gets front and rear crash bars, leather covered ‘weather resistant’ trunk and bags. Other key features include LED lights, heated seats and grips, cruise control, keyless ignition and tyre pressure monitoring system.

While its aluminium frame provides rigidity, the telescopic fork front and single air-adjustable shock rear suspension setup aids to its overall handling. In US market, the 2017 Indian Roadmaster Classic is made available in three new shades – Red over Ivory Cream, Willow Green over Ivory Cream and Thunder Black. The dual-tone variants are priced at $27,999, the single shade model costs $26,999. In India, this luxury touring motorcycle will come in Red over Ivory Cream colour scheme only.
