Ford has confirmed that the next generation Figo will go on sale in the South African market next year. This hatchback will also make its way to the Indian market by early next year. The concept will be shown at the inaugural Go Further event in Joburg, South Africa on July 17. This model will be manufactured in Chennai, India and will be exported to South Africa.
The new generation Ford Figo will be equipped with the SYNC AppLink with connectivity system installed. Its SYNC and Applink system supports voice activated commands which allow the occupant to dial and call, and change music system. The exteriors of the new Figo look identical to the concept unveiled. The company has slightly modified the aerodynamic curves and creases to make it road compatible.
The front fascia of the hatchback has Aston-Martin like grille which is complemented by sweptback headlamps. Instead of the horizontal chrome slat grille in the concept, this model gets honeycomb grille. The new Figo will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol version will get a 1.5-litre engine in place of the current 1.4-litre engine, the oil burner gets the 1.5-litre diesel engine that also powers the Ford EcoSport.
