India-Bound Skoda Karoq 5-Seater SUV Gets Sportline Edition

Czech automaker, Skoda has unveiled the new Skoda Karoq Sportline variant ahead of its official debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. This is the second newest model in the Karoq model; the company recently unveiled the tough looking Karoq Scout. This model is likely to serve as the performance-oriented model, as the Karoq is not likely to gain a vRS variant. In the global markets, the Skoda Karoq rivals the Nissan Qashqai and Seat Ateca.

The Skoda Karoq Sportline comes equipped with uniquely designed black 18-inch wheels; 19-inch wheels will come as optional. It is likely to share bodykit with Kodiaq Sport, featuring new bumpers. Grille, roof rails and wing mirrors are finished in black, while the windows are tinted too.

Inside the cabin, the Skoda Karoq Sportline gets black sports seat upholstery – called the three-ply air-permeable fabric, which is claimed to be more breathable and comfortable in hot conditions. The steering wheel is wrapped in perforated leather with silver stitching. It also gets black headlining on roof, stainless steel pedals and LED ambient lighting. The Skoda Karoq Sportline is available in a choice of four engines. Diesel version is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI unit that offers two states of tunes – 187bhp and 148bhp. The more powerful version gets all-wheel-drive layout and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The lower-spec engine comes with a six-speed manual gearbox. In India, the Skoda Karoq compact SUV will go on sale in 2019. It will come via a CKD route and will be assembled at Skoda’s Aurangabad facility. This 5-seater premium SUV will challenge the likes of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson.
