The engine details for the upcoming MG SUV are yet to be revealed. It is most likely to source the diesel engine from FCA, which is a 2.0-litre MJD II unit that also powers the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. While powering Compass, this engine produces 173bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The company could also launch the petrol version of the SUV, which is likely to be a 1.5-litre turbo-unit that also powers the global MG ZS SUV.
